We’ve received reports that people are receiving scam calls from a number that appears as 0800 CERT NZ (0800 2378 69).
The scammer directs the recipient to download a piece of software and go to a fake website to provide more information.
CERT NZ will never initiate unsolicited contact with you via the 0800 CERT NZ number.
We recommend you do not answer this call, and if you do, do not follow their instructions.
This scam call is linked to a scam where people received a fake invoice from a payment provider that lists the CERT NZ 0800 number as a trusted point of contact.
If you have received a call and/or followed any instructions from the call, please report it directly to CERT NZ. Please include any details you have, including the phone number you received the call on and the time and date.
